Who is the Antichrist?

He is called the Son of Perdition

He is called the Man of Lawlessness

He will claim to be God.

The Antichrist is a member of the “un-holy” trinity.  (Satan and the False Prophet are the other two)

Who will be the Antichrist?  We don’t really know at this time.

We know this though……..he is alive and already an adult.  The prophetic signs of the times tell us this.  No one knows who he is at the moment.  The Antichrist will not be revealed until the Church is taken up to be with the Lord.

People thought Hitler was the Antichrist.  He definitely was a forerunner.  Hitler’s hatred of the Jews and the Holocaust were a “type and shadow” of the Great Tribulation.  Several horribly evil men in history have been suspected to be the Antichrist.  They were not.  The time wasn’t right for his entry into the world.  Several things had to take place first.  The most important historic event that needed to take place was the restoration of Israel as a country. click here for more info

The Antichrist will be a man of war.  He will not believe in the same god as his ancestors.  More than likely he will be a homosexual.  The prophet Daniel wrote this about him:

Daniel 11: 36-38   And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods; and he shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished; for that which is determined shall be done. Neither shall he regard the gods of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself above all. But in his place shall he honor the god of fortresses; and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

This man (the Antichrist) will have counterfeit power from Satan.  He will perform miracles.  This evil man will deceive everyone that isn’t willing to believe the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Antichrist will be a man that seems to be a great peacemaker.  He will arrive on the scene after a horrible war (Ezekiel 38 War) when the world is desperate for solutions.  He will make a peace covenant with Israel and that will begin the 7 years of tribulation.  The first 3-1/2 years will still seem wonderful.  This man will have “all of the answers”.   People will believe that he is bringing a solution for  peace and good economic times to the world.  At least that is what it will seem like at first.  IT IS A DECEPTION.  He will finalize the One World Government in which there are no national borders or identities.  The Antichrist will also claim that religion is the cause of war and will make the various religions of the world illegal.  He will form a one world religion with the help of the False Prophet.  This will be a false religion ultimately resulting in worshiping the Antichrist as God.  (Remember….the believers in Jesus Christ will have been raptured by this time.  Some people will have turned to Jesus as their Savior after the rapture, but they will be a distinct minority.) Although He comes as a “man of peace” at first……the Antichrist will make war.  Several nations will come against Him in battle, but he will conquer them.  He will rule with great cruelty.  No one will be able to buy or sell without taking his “mark”.  This mark is the “mark of the beast” or “666”.

The Bible warns us that anyone that takes the “mark of the Antichrist” will be doomed by God to eternal punishment in hell.  This is because the only way to receive this mark…….is by worshiping the Antichrist as the true God.  This is complete blasphemy against the real God!

Everyone who refuses to worship the Antichrist will be put to death.  Only God’s holy ones that have put their faith in Him will refuse.  God will have a remnant that are still serving Him during this time.  Many will be martyred.  Their reward will be great, however!  There will probably be others that manage to survive with God’s help.

The Antichrist will desire to rule the world and have everyone worship Him.  He will determine to conquer Israel and wipe out every memory of the true living God. He will set up his throne in Jerusalem and want the temple to be his temple.  He will demand that the people worship him there. This is called the Abomination of Desolation.

Jesus warned His disciples about this day:

Matthew 24:15  “The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about—the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the Holy Place.”

Paul wrote about him in 2 Thessalonians.  He tells us about the man of rebellion that would come.  Paul said that this man would sit in the temple and claim that he was God.

2 Thessalonians 2: 1-12   Now, dear brothers and sisters, let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him. Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us. Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.

Don’t you remember that I told you about all this when I was with you? And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes. For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming.

This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.

The Apostle John speaks of the Antichrist in the Book of Revelation:

Revelation 13: 1-10  Then I saw a beast rising up out of the sea. It had seven heads and ten horns, with ten crowns on its horns. And written on each head were names that blasphemed God. This beast looked like a leopard, but it had the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion! And the dragon gave the beast his own power and throne and great authority.

I saw that one of the heads of the beast seemed wounded beyond recovery—but the fatal wound was healed! The whole world marveled at this miracle and gave allegiance to the beast. They worshiped the dragon for giving the beast such power, and they also worshiped the beast. “Who is as great as the beast?” they exclaimed. “Who is able to fight against him?”

Then the beast was allowed to speak great blasphemies against God. And he was given authority to do whatever he wanted for forty-two months. And he spoke terrible words of blasphemy against God, slandering his name and his dwelling—that is, those who dwell in heaven. And the beast was allowed to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation. And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life before the world was made—the Book that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered.

Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.

Anyone who is destined for prison will be taken to prison.

Anyone destined to die by the sword will die by the sword.

This means that God’s holy people must endure persecution patiently and remain faithful.

The Antichrist will have his reign of terror until the end of the Great Tribulation (3-1/2 years after he demands to be worshiped and sets up his throne at the temple in Jerusalem).

Jesus Christ will return at that time and conquer the Antichrist and all of his armies!  It will be wonderful! All evil will be cleansed from the world.  Righteousness will prevail.

Revelation 19: 11-21  Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war. His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself. He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God. The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses.  From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress. On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.

Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, shouting to the vultures flying high in the sky: “Come! Gather together for the great banquet God has prepared. Come and eat the flesh of kings, generals, and strong warriors; of horses and their riders; and of all humanity, both free and slave, small and great.”

Then I saw the beast and the kings of the world and their armies gathered together to fight against the one sitting on the horse and his army. And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who did mighty miracles on behalf of the beast—miracles that deceived all who had accepted the mark of the beast and who worshiped his statue. Both the beast and his false prophet were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. Their entire army was killed by the sharp sword that came from the mouth of the one riding the white horse. And the vultures all gorged themselves on the dead bodies.

Jesus Christ will establish His Kingdom

at that time and rule the entire world

He will rule with an iron rod, but in righteousness!
