Message to Suffering Christians

Dear Suffering Christian

The Lord God would have me give you this message………

Your Heavenly Father loves you. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you.  You are precious in the sight of our Lord.  He gave you the  Holy Spirit to love you and always be with you.  He will comfort you in your time of suffering.

cross 2     (I refuse to show photos of Christians being put to death or tortured.  They are precious in the sight of God.  Too precious to be shown. )

Jesus said His people would be hated. He warned that they would be persecuted for His sake.

John 15:18-25  If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you. They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the one who sent me. They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have no excuse for their sin. Anyone who hates me also hates my Father. If I hadn’t done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be guilty. But as it is, they have seen everything I did, yet they still hate me and my Father. This fulfills what is written in their scriptures ‘They hated me without cause.’

John 16:1-4  “I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith. For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God. This is because they have never known the Father or me. Yes, I’m telling you these things now, so that when they happen, you will remember my warning. I didn’t tell you earlier because I was going to be with you for a while longer.

What Jesus said then is also true today for the people that truly believe in Him and follow Him.  Some may only endure hatred…….some may go to prison…….and others will have to be faithful even unto death.

Revelation 6:9-11  When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.

Here are some of the promises made by our Heavenly Father:

Matthew 5:10  “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

I Peter 4:12-14  Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

Romans 8:35-37  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Psalm 23:4   Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

tears  wipe away out tearsRemember this……our lives on earth are only a moment in time.  We will live with our Heavenly Father for eternity.  There will be no tears or suffering then.  He will wipe away every tear and we will live in perpetual joy!  This is the hope you must cling to!

Revelation 21:3-4   And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God: and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away.

Jesus Prayed this Prayer for the Church

Jesus Christ is our High Priest.

He is in heaven and intercedes for us to the Father.

Jesus prayed many times to the Father when He was on earth.

This is the prayer Jesus prayed for everyone that would ever believe in Him!

Be blessed!

John 17

After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.

“I have revealed you to the ones you gave me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you, for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. They accepted it and know that I came from you, and they believe you sent me.

“My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so they bring me glory. Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are. During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave me. I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold.

“Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.

“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.

“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

“O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.”

Spiritual Adultery in the Church

What is Spiritual Adultery?

It is trying to “serve” God and another “god” at the same time.

OR…….

It is trying to “serve” god and the world at the same time.

OR…….

It is perverting Christianity and the Word of God!

adultery

I John 2:15-17  Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when  you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

Christians are supposed to make a living for their families.  However, seeking material wealth to the exclusion of serving God is a serious sin.  Many “professing Christians” say they just don’t have time to attend church services, read the Bible or pray.  They are too busy making money.  This is spiritual adultery!  They are “in bed” with materialism.

moneyYet, they fully expect God to love them and take care of them.  These people pray when they need something from God.  He is merciful and DOES love them.  But, you are fooling yourself if you think living this way is a good idea.  God is not mocked!

Most people that live this way would be shocked to think they are worshiping a false idol.  After all…..they believe in God and Jesus.  This is the truth though.  You CANNOT serve both God and worship money and things.  You can have material possessions as long as you put God first!

Many Christians today serve a “god” of alcohol, sex, gambling, pornography or drugs.  These become horrible addictions and any truthful person will admit they are “chained” to these things.  That is spiritual adultery.  God will free you from them   IF   you turn wholeheartedly back to Him.

Other people are taught by their church to believe in “Men’s traditions”.  This is nothing new.  The apostles in the New Testament were already preaching against it.  It began when pagans were converted to Christianity.  The people kept practicing many of their old beliefs and combined them with their new Christian beliefs.  Many still do this today.   Be very careful when you do this. It is spiritual adultery.

Here are examples:

  • The belief that Mary is in some way part of the redemptive process.  She isn’t.  Jesus alone is Savior and Redeemer.  Mary was chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus.  She was obedient and faithful when chosen.  However, Mary was a human.  Being born to Mary provided the human part of Jesus.  She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior after He died.  Therefore….she was a Christian and is now in heaven.  We can love Mary and respect her greatly.  That is all.

1 Tim 2:5   For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

  • Another example is believing you MUST accept the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible.  The teachings of the Book of Mormon tend to contradict the Bible.  (i.e.  The Book of Mormon states that Jesus was born in Jerusalem instead of Bethelehem as the Bible teaches.  This is found in Alma 7:10).   It is wrong to either add to the Bible or take away anything from the Bible. It is spiritual adultery.

Book of Mormon – Alma 7:10   And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, ever the Son of God.

The Bible – Luke 2:8-12   That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

The Bible – Luke 2:15-16  When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger.

  • Too many churches teach tolerance of sin in the church!  (i.e. living together without marriage is perfectly fine, homosexuality is not a sin, preachers can divorce and re-marry, etc.).  Yes, you can be forgiven for any sin.  But, you MUST turn away from the sin, confess it to God and then be forgiven!
  • Unfortunately, many churches are beginning to follow New Age teachings (angel portals,  gold dust sprinkled,etc.).   Most of the people don’t know the scriptures enough to even realize it!  Mystical things are taught instead of the  simple gospel truth about Jesus Christ.  This isn’t new.  Gnosticism began in the early church.  It can creep into the most innocent believer’s life.   However,  it is spiritual adultery!

I Timothy 4:1-2  Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.

These are only some of the examples where Christians are allowing deception into their churches!  We live in the last days.  Jesus Christ warned us that deception would be everywhere in the last days.

Matthew 24:23-25  “Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.

The apostles also warned the Church about false prophets.

II Peter 2:1-3   But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves. Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered. In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.

Everything MUST line up with God’s word in the scriptures.  If something isn’t found in the Bible….stay away from it!  God will not “speak through a Prophet” and say something that isn’t found in the Bible!

Every Christian will be held accountable by God.  Study the Word of God carefully and make certain that you are not committing spiritual adultery.

Psalms of Thanksgiving

Enter his gates with thanksgiving…….

Go into his courts with praise!

God’s people have many reasons to be thankful!

The Book of Psalms has many scriptures thanking God for His Goodness….Forgiveness….Mercy….Provision….

___________________________________________________________________

This psalm is perfect for a group of people to give praise and thanksgiving to God for all of His goodness to them!  The Lord has been so good to His people.  He has created all things and has made provision for each and every one of us.  God is good……let us give thanks!

Psalm 65

What mighty praise, O God, belongs to you in Zion.

We will fulfill our vows to you, for you answer our prayers.

All of us must come to you.

Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all.

What joy for those you choose to bring near, those who live in your holy courts.

What festivities await us inside your holy Temple.

You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior.

You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas.

You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength.

You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves and silenced the shouting of the nations.

Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders.

From where the sun rises to where it sets, you inspire shouts of joy.

You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile.

The river of God has plenty of water; it provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so.

You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges.

You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops.

You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.

The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy.

The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep,  and the valleys are carpeted with grain.

They all shout and sing for joy!

kneeling

Every person has reason to be grateful to our Lord God.  He forgives us of our sin!  He protects us and loves us.  Give praise and thanks to your Lord for His tender mercies and lovingkindness!

Psalm 32

Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!

Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!

When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.

Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me.

My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.

Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt.

I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”

And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.

For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble.

You surround me with songs of victory.

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.

I will advise you and watch over you.

Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”

Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord.

So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey him!

Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!

The Sign of His Coming and the End of the Age

As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.   For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

The Abomination of Desolation

15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, 18 and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. 19 And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! 20 Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. 22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. 23 Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand. 26 So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

The coming of the Son of Man

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The Lesson of the Fig Tree (Christian scholars and Jewish scholars both agree that the Fig Tree symbolizes Israel).

32 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

No One Knows That Day and Hour

36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. 37 For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. 42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 47 Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. 48 But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know51 and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Spiritual Warfare

Evil is very present in the world these days!

People are wicked in their hearts.  Murder, rape, cruelty, abuse, lying, pornography, drugs……and the list goes on.  We tend to think our battle is with these people.

But…..it really isn’t!   It is a spiritual battle!

GOOD    VS.   EVIL

THE  POWER  OF  GOOD     VS.   THE POWER OF DARKNESS

GOD    VS.    SATAN

Many people think that they are “neutral”.  They don’t want any part of a spiritual struggle.  The truth is……you can’t be neutral…..especially if you are a Christian.  Remember the song “Onward Christian Soldiers”?  It is a truth that we cannot escape.  There is a war raging between God and Satan.  God’s people must learn how to fight!

Let me tell you about your weapons!

THE   WHOLE  ARMOR  OF  GOD

Ephesians 6:10-20

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

Image

14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.

16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.

To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

Psalm 23

This is one of David’s Psalms.

David was a shepherd and clearly understood

the sacrifice and love of the

Good Shepherd toward us!

Image

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.

He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

The Promises of God

We can trust the promises of God with our whole heart, mind and soul.  Our Lord God is completely trustworthy!

Numbers 23:19

God is not a human who lies or a mortal who changes his mind. When he says something, he will do it; when he makes a promise, he will fulfill it.
All people who have put their faith in Jesus Christ CAN trust in every promise that our Heavenly Father has made…….from Genesis 1 to the last sentence in Revelation!  We can join the choir of believers that have sang this song through the years!

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,

Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call

Resting in my Savior as my all in all,

Standing on the promises of God.

Bible

Isaiah 40:29-31  He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Jeremiah 29:11  “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 103:13   As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.

Proverbs 1:33  All who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.
Proverbs 8:17  I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

Proverbs 3:5-6    Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Malachi 3:10   God said… “bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

Matthew 11:28-29  Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

John 14:27  I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Romans 10:9  If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:37-39  No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Philippians 4:19  If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Ephesians 3:12   Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come fearlessly into God’s presence, assured of His glad welcome.

I John 5:14   This is the assurance we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

2 Peter 1:4  But because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

These are but a few of the promises in the scriptures……….

Shouting a Warning !!!

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior…….you are no longer under the Law of Moses (rules & regulations)!     The Holy Spirit lives in your spirit.  He tells you what is wrong and what is right!

When a Christian does something wrong (sins) the Holy Spirit will tell that person.  All you have to do then is simply admit what you’ve done, turn away from it and confess your sin to your Heavenly Father!  He will forgive you instantly (because of your faith in Jesus)!  He no longer even remembers your sin.  You are at peace with God!

Romans 8:

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

However……you must not continue to willfully sin!

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
